Built for demanding projects

SKW Ruar recovers heat between supply and extract air using two coils connected by a pumped glycol loop — a runaround system with no shared rotor or plate, so the two airstreams never mix. It improves indoor air quality and meets ErP regulations, making it well suited to hospitals and laboratories where cross-contamination between supply and extract air is not acceptable.

  • Runaround coil heater and chiller
Two independent coils transfer heat without connecting the airstreams.
  • Optional chilled water coil
Adds cooling capacity where the project needs it.
  • ErP-compliant design
Meets current European ecodesign requirements for ventilation units.

How it works

A pumped water loop carries heat from the extract-air coil to the supply-air coil — hover the markers on the diagram for the individual components.

Configuration
Key Features
  • Recirculation of exhaust and supply air with simultaneous constant mixing of outdoor air
  • Controllable heat pump for energy recovery from the exhaust air
  • Variable outside air volume flow for dehumidification with constant exhaust and supply air flow
  • Heating register for reheating the supply air with low flow and return temperatures
  • Temperature and humidity control
  • Control cabinet mounted on the device or remotely on the wall
  • Option: plastic heat exchanger
High-Quality Housing
  • Acoustically insulated panels for low acoustic levels
  • Casing classification TB2, T2, L1 [M], D1 [M]
  • Robust design with up to 30% lighter weight
  • Duct connections on the side or on top, adjustable on site
Typical Applications
  • Large offices — efficient ventilation with ErP-compliant recovery.
  • Standard hospitals — controlled indoor climate without airstream mixing.
  • High-hygiene hospitals & labs — where cross-contamination between supply and extract air is not acceptable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions

Supply and extract air never share a rotor or plate. Instead, two separate coils — one in each airstream — are connected by a pumped water loop, so heat transfers between them without the air itself mixing.

Yes — the runaround design is specifically well suited to hospitals and labs where supply and extract air must stay physically separate.

Yes, an optional chilled water coil can be added for extra cooling capacity.

Yes, all SKW Ruar units are ErP compliant as standard.
